Overview

RESTorative Recipes is a creative space within The Restorative at Restoration Missionary Baptist Church (RMBC). This category celebrates food, fellowship, and faith by sharing authentic, original, and innovative recipes developed by our church family and community.

Purpose

  • To inspire healthy, wholesome, and enjoyable meals rooted in love, creativity, and stewardship.

  • To provide both made-to-order specialty dishes (available through church events or pre-order) and DIY recipes that families can easily create at home.

  • To highlight our community’s unique flavors while respecting copyright and culinary creativity.

Content Focus

  • Original Creations: Recipes developed by members and partners of RMBC.

  • Traditional Favorites with a Twist: Southern comfort foods, cultural dishes, and new approaches.

  • Healthy & Faithful Living: Options that promote wellness and balance.

  • Some recipes may be copyright-protected when offered for pick-up or delivery.

  • All recipes shared online are for personal, at-home preparation without infringement.

  • Posts will be family-friendly, Christian in tone, and encourage good stewardship of health and resources.

Amish Chicken and Dumplings

3 Cups Flour, plush more for dusting a work surface

2 Eggs

½ Tsp Salt

Water as needed

For Broth

8 Cups Chicken Broth

2 Stalks Celery, thinly sliced

2 Cups Sweet Peas

1 Carrot, peeled and

diced

4 Potatoes, peeled and diced

1 Medium White Onion, diced

2 Tsp parsley

1 Tbls Cornstarch

¼ Cup water

3 Cups Rotisserie Chicken, chopped

Salt, to taste

Pepper, to taste



Directions


Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, the eggs and ½ teaspoon of the salt,

mixing it together.

Step 2: Add a small amount of water to the flour mixture until the dough comes

together and forms a ball.

Step 3: Flour a countertop, the roll out the dough until it is ½ in thick.

Step 4: Cut the dough into 1 ½ inch squares.

Step 5: In a stockpot, add the broth, the celery, the peas, the carrots, the potatoes,

the onion, and the parsley.

Step 6: Bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

Step 7: Add the noodles one at a time to prevent sticking.

Step 8: Reduce the mixture to a simmer, and let the noodles cook until tender,

about 25 minutes.

Step 9: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and the water until smooth.

Step 10: Stir the cornstarch mixture into the soup.

Step 11: Continue to simmer and stir occasionally.

Step 12: Once thickened, stir in the chicken.

Step 13: Season to taste with the salt and the pepper.

Step 14: Serve.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking dish.

Spread the drained crushed pineapple evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Evenly spoon the cherry pie filling over the layer of crushed pineapple.

Follow with an even layer of the blueberry pie filling.

Sprinkle the shredded coconut over the pie fillings.

Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package instructions, then gently pour over the layers in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Top with a generous sprinkle of the sliced almonds.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting and serving.

1 box (18.25 oz) yellow cake mix

20 oz can crushed pineapple, drained

21 oz can cherry pie filling

21 oz can blueberry pie filling

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup sliced almonds
